Paul reminded us to be grateful for each other & Rotary and to be mindful of those in need - to provide food for the hungry; heal the wounds of hatred with love; comfort those in sorrow; and bring peace to those living in areas of unrest.
We so enjoyed seeing Finn, our youngest Rotarian,
were so sorry to hear Charlotte is in quarantine after Mauer & Leif tested positive for Covid, and wish Patricia well on her rotator cuff surgery today. Thank you to everyone who has signed up to help her over the next several weeks.
Molly was happy to have a new nanny start Monday; Charlotte passed her 3rd & final EA (Enrolled Agent) exam; Venky was happy to be back home from India; Charles & Alicia had a wonderful trip to Paso Robles wine country; Art likes Charles' beard & is off to skiing in Park City; Vicky is in Mexico, and Nicole was happy Lisa Montes could join us
It was agreed we should continue on zoom into February with no "soft date" yet set for our hybrid meetings
We will be sending the money gathered for outreach in India to Project Peanut Butter, as we are not able to send the funds to India as planned
The Grant for Praise Gate is on hold as Venky, the "premier commander," gathers more info for the Kenya DG
Lisa Montes from La Colonia Community Foundation informed us of ways they are helping youth and those with food insecurity in La Colonia Eden Gardens. She is a 4th generation Eden Gardens resident - the 1st neighborhood in Solana Beach founded by Mexican Americans who moved here to help in the agricultural area & citrus groves
Father Garrett Galvin from the Franciscan School of Theology at USD spoke with us on their mission and commitment to social justice. They prepare men & women in theological education that allows them to focus in solidarity with those on the margins of society with the realization that we are all created in the image and likeness of God. Unfortunately we could not see his slide presentation as USD was undergoing a blackout.
