Del Mar-Solana Beach Rotary celebrated the end of President Diane Huckabee’s term with its annual Demotion Party at the home of Charles and Alicia Foster in Del Mar on June 13.

Incoming President Myers Congratulates
Outgoing President Huckabee

After a delightful social hour and dinner arranged by Past President, Susan Hennenfent, and prepared by Epic Catering, Immediate Past President, Steve Weitzen, eloquently (as only an attorney can) roasted outgoing President Diane Huckabee.

Surrounded by Rotarians and guests, Diane took the roasting like the trooper she had been all year long, with grace and only an occasional corrective retort to keep the story truthful.  Throughout the roast, it was often hard to hear Steve over the laughter (and heckling) from the attentive crowd.

Incoming President, Dr. Seymour Myers, rescued Diane from Steve’s roasting and applied the salve of kind words and many presents.  Included amongst the presents were the President’s Gavel (which Diane had “lost” early in her term), chocolates (which Diane dearly loves), and a gift certificate (which Diane declined to share with her Board).

When finally allowed to rise from the hot seat, Diane thanked all club members for their unselfish support during the past year.  She noted how amazed she was by the extraordinarily many good things the club of only 35 talented and committed members had done to make our community and the world a better place in which to live.

How many Past Presidents do you see in this photo??
