Charles Koll Demotion Party (aka "The Great Gavel Recovery of 2026")
Rotary members gathered at the Sutton's home for what was billed as a farewell celebration but was, in reality, a full blown roasting of outgoing President Charles Koll - and let's say that the man took it like a champ, only because he did not have much choice. The turnout was fantastic and the food and drinks were flowing. The mood was equal parts gratitude and gleeful mockery, exactly as tradition demands.
Officiating the ceremony was Kellen Bonafoux, who somehow- through sheer force of will, negotiating skills, or possibly a search warrant - managed to solve one of the club's most enduring mysteries; the whereabouts of the long-lost gavel. Rumors of its location have circulated for months, but on this day, it was finally recovered, in the diaper bag of the infamous Alice Koll!
The afternoon reached its peak with a heartfelt (and only slightly teary) toast marking the official end of the Charles Koll Era. With the crowd watching and the gavel gleaming, Charles passed the torch- er, gavel - to incoming President Jason Strayer, who accepted his new role with grace and quiet confidence of a man who knows exactly what he is signed up for.
Charles, dear friend, thank you for your leadership, your hard work, excellent beer and for taking the roast with such great humor. The club is better for your time at the helm - even if the gavel was not always where it is suppose to be.
Jason, welcome to the big chair. May your term be long, your meetings short and your gavel always exactly where you left it. Congratulations!
