What is Rotary?
Rotary International is the world's first service club. The original Rotary Club was organized in Chicago in 1905 to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise. Rotary International leverages the resources of 34,000 clubs and 1.2 million Rotarians worldwide to improve the world. Its activities include projects to eradicate polio worldwide, increase education, health, and welfare for underprivileged peoples, and improve the understanding and cooperation around the world.
Who are Rotarians?
Rotarians are business and professional men and women who are community and national leaders united worldwide to conduct humanitarian projects, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and help build goodwill and peace in the world.
Through their Clubs, District organizations, and the Rotary Foundation, Rotarians plan and carry out a wide variety of educational, humanitarian projects, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and help build goodwill and peace in the world. We carry out a wide variety of educational, humanitarian, and cultural programs that touch and improve peoples' lives in their local communities and throughout the world.
